Meet the Fleet
We currently have two yachts in the Seattle Sailing Charters line-up, each offering unique experiences. We also have access to several additional vessels as the need arises. Call us with your ideas! We look forward to making them reality.
SV Bimi, traditional gaff-rigged ketch:
Bimi is a unique colorful 32 foot wooden Gaff-Rigged ketch, built in the style of the early East Coast catboats in 1955. Bimi sports an enormous cockpit and lots of colors which help provide a sailing celebration to remember! Her wide cockpit and “beamy” design provide a stable platform for sailing, and her blue hull with red and yellow gaff-rigged sails invite attention wherever she sails. Based in the warmer fresh waters of Lake Washington, we often tailor sails aboard Bimi on the other side of the city, in Lake Union, and through the ship canal past UW Husky stadium towards Kirkland. Swimming is optional but encouraged!
This luxury power boat option offers the opportunity to not only see the city waterfront up close, but also to explore “around the corner,” past Alki beach and West Seattle, over to remote Blake Island and Blakely Harbor on the far side of Puget Sound towards the majestic Olympic Mountains. Moored near the locks, we often cruise the protected inner waterways, exploring the commercial ship canal, houseboats in Lake Union, Gas Works Park, the Center for Wooden Boats, and out past UW Husky Stadium across Lake Washington towards Bill Gate’s compound. Swimming opportunities abound in the fresh water of Lake Washington and Lake Union. It’s “urban cruising” at it’s finest.
We also are able to cruise comfortably year round with excellent visibility and comfort inside the well-appointed salon, as needed. Splendido is a fine example of the down-east style yachts which are regarded for having easily driven hulls and the ability to handle various sea conditions with ease.
With twin Cummins 370’s she has the ability to get up and go yet she is just as comfortable at 15 knots. The finely crafted interior of the Legacy 40 is a blend of mahogany woodwork and trim with top-quality fixtures. The salon’s large windows and lovely teak and holly cabin sole create a very comfortable and traditional environment. The salon is finished in cherry trim with satin varnish. The soles are teak and holly with gloss varnish.
With the upper flybridge, wide walk-around decks, expansive foredeck and spacious aft cockpit, you will have all the room you need to enjoy the great outdoors and spectacular views you’ll experience in every direction. As one client commented, “The way it’s designed, it has the feel of a sailboat. There’s a yachtsy, Herreshoff feel to it… you look at the quality of construction, and you know this boat was made by a sailboat builder.”
